The BFFD-AT is a high-specification Air-Tested Fire-Rated Metal Access Panel, engineered to deliver fire rated access with a top level airtightness performance with a more discreet finish.
Dual Performance Certification:
• Fire Rating: Independently tested and certified to 1 Hour Fire Rated to BS EN 1634-1 & 1364-2 in both wall and ceiling applications.• Air Tightness: Compliant with stringent air permeability testing, the BFFD-AT ensures essential air-tightness, directly addressing the requirements of Building Regulations Part L (Conservation of Fuel and Power).
Material & Build Specification:
• Construction: Fabricated from durable, corrosion-resistant Zintec steel, integrated with a specialised fire-board infill and a continuous, high-performance sealing system.• Finish: Supplied with a highly durable RAL 9010 satin white polyester powder coating for a robust and professional finish.

Decent solid product, did the job. Ours was a 600 x 600 hatch. Two improvements could be to add a protective film to the hatch, as it was easy to damage the paintwork during installation, and possibly to retain the insulation in some way, especially around the catch, as some comes away in use.

Suitable for my purpose. You need to plan ahead and pre-drill the holes for the frame as you will need someone to support the complete assembly whilst you line up/position the frame for the screws etc., but totally achievable. Good buy.

Needed to close up an old glass loft hatch and insulate one side of the house, so required a new hatch on the other side. Went for a 600x600 to fit in between my joists, which had 400 centres. After removing a joist and lining with 150x47mm timbers, I had 606mm gap and the hatch slipped in perfectly with just a few shims to align, no dramas at all. It looks great and holds the temperature of the insulated ceiling at around 21 degrees, whereas the old glass hatch was 14 and clearly losing lots of previous and expensive heat! Hoping to see a benefit on the bills. Delivery was next day as promised and I will certainly be buying a custom sized version next year to replace the old boarded over glass hatch. Great product, quick delivery, value for money, equals happy customer :-)
