Product details

Lift-Out Fire Rated Access Panel — Ceiling Use

A fire rated access panel with a lift-out door, for applications where a hinged door isn't suitable. Made to order up to 600 x 600mm.

  • 90 minute fire rating (face side), tested in a ceiling construction
  • Tested to BS 476: Part 22: 1987
  • Smoke tested at 1.23 m³/hr/lm — well within the Part B Building Regulations limit of 3.0
  • Fully sealed
  • 30dB acoustic reduction

Why a lift-out door? Instead of swinging open, the door lifts out vertically, which gives it a few advantages over a hinged door:

  • Space efficiency — useful in confined areas where there isn't room for a door to swing open.
  • Easier access — removing the door gives clear access from all sides of the opening, handy for equipment maintenance and inspections.
  • Safety and security — the door has to be deliberately removed, so it's obvious when it's locked in place.

Fire testing Tested to BS 476: Part 22: 1987 from the face side of the door — 90 minutes in a ceiling.

Locking & opening The door is held securely by two 3-point locks on opposite sides. The standard lock is a budget lock operated with a square-ended T-key. A tamper-proof lock is available for enhanced security. Optional safety wires are also available — these fix to the frame and clip to the back of the door to stop it falling once the panel is open.

Material & finish Zintec steel, powder-coated white (RAL 9010).

Fitting The opening must be lined with 12.5mm fire board. The lined opening needs to be 10mm larger than the panel — e.g. a 600 x 600mm panel fits a 610 x 610mm structural opening. The inner edge of the frame has pre-drilled fixing holes, located 40mm from the front face, and the fixings are concealed once fitted.

Size information Made to order. The clear opening is 25mm smaller than the size you order — e.g. a 300 x 300mm panel gives a 275 x 275mm clear opening once the door is removed. Overall frame depth is 50mm, door thickness 24mm. Available with a 25mm picture frame or beaded frame.
