The "SP2" is a budget steel push-up 60-minute fire rated loft access hatch with a smooth simplistic design.
The loft access trap is finished with a powder coat onto zintec steel for a smooth white maintenance free surface. The loft hatch requires no painting and the frame fits flush to the ceiling.
Once the loft door is open, it has a very large clear opening of 712mm x 520mm to assist with storing bulky items, such as suitcases into the loft space.
The loft hatch lid is insulated with a substantial 100mm of fire resistant mineral slab to comply with the current building regulations of 0.35 "U" value.
The SP2 loft hatch is draught sealed between the frame and lid to virtually eliminate warm air leakage. It also reduces cold air and vapour leaking in from the loft.
The white colour of the loft hatch is RAL No. 9010 with 20% gloss.
The ceiling cut out (trim) size for the loft hatch is 755mm x 555mm.

Strictly compliant to the following regulations:
1 hour fire test to UKAS standards.
Exceeds Part "L" of the thermal building regulations to 0.35 "U" value.
NHBC compliant for attic doors, including 520mm clear opening in any direction.
The loft hatch is UKAS air infiltration tested without the need for extra sealant to the external frame and ceiling.
In addition:
The ceiling hatch insulation is CFC & HCFC free, ODP (ozone depletion) zero and compliant to Eco Homes standards of a GWP (global warming potential) rating of zero.
The SP2 loft access trap box packaging is made from 100% recycled cardboard and 100% recyclable.
Please note the SP2 cannot be used with our loft ladders.

Great loft hatch, I had to modify the existing hole slightly to make it fit, but very easy to fit and looks great.

Happy overall with the loft hatch. The only issues are that the locking bar on the inside (budget lock) is a bit crude and is stiff/scrapes when turning the key. Would also be better if the insulation pad was covered (I made a cardboard cutout cover for this)

The hatch arrived quickly in good condition. The construction is sturdy. Simple to install although quite awkward to hold whilst screwing it up.

Second time I've bought one of these hatches after being so impressed the first time we decided to replace our second loft hatch. The unit is very understated, perfect if you're looking for a low-key minimalist look - no frilly edges, big frames or nasty plastic trim. Definitely looks the part and the quality is perfect. I wasn't so concerned with the fact it's fire rated, the look of it was exactly what I was trying to achieve. Was a 2 person job to install and the frame did need some resizing before the hatch would fit the hole but I wouldn't hesitate to use again.
