The SDS is a precision-made, bespoke metal loft hatch providing certified Fire Rating, superior airtightness, and full compliance with Building Regulations Part L.
Fire Integrity & Thermal Performance:
• Fire Rating: Certified for a One-Way Fire Rating, providing essential safety and integrity to the ceiling compartmentation.• U Value & Compliance: The lid contains 50mm of exposed mineral wool insulation, achieving a U value of 0.32 W/m²K, fully complying with Part L of the Building Regulations.
• Airtightness: Features a concealed seal and a specialised locking system to achieve an incredible airtightness rating, critical for energy efficiency.
Bespoke Sizing & Installation Guidance:
• Custom Sizing: The hatch is made to your exact measurements, requiring the length and width of the loft opening (joist to joist) in mm, with a 5mm deduction for fitting tolerance.• Frame & Protrusion: The hatch frame depth is 63mm (up into the loft), and the finished panel has a minimal protrusion of 7mm from the ceiling, ensuring a subtle, clean aesthetic.
• Dual Lock Recommendation: For widths exceeding 750mm on the hinge side, two locks are recommended to ensure a secure, tight draught seal.
Construction & Locking:
• Construction: Fabricated from corrosion-resistant 1mm Zintec Steel. All hinges and fixings are concealed.• Standard Lock: Tri-drive lock featuring an O-ring seal on the shaft for ultimate airtightness. Optional Key lockable version also available.
• SDS-FR-OS: Please note this product comes with 2 x Tri-Drive Locks.

Needed a new loft hatch to replace the piece of wood we had. Although we had an odd shaped opening so ordered bespoke. Was very happy when it arrived and fitted perfectly As someone else said, I think the lock mechanism could be rethought with the insulation but its a minor point.

I have ordered this hatch twice and have not been disappointed yet. They are well made and well packaged. I would recommend fitting as a two person job but it can be done alone as I have to do. The only area I feel could be improved is around the locking mechanism as it tears the foil cover. Still its a great product and I would definitely recommend.

This is the third loft hatch I’ve bought / installed & I have to say, as long as you measure correctly they are so easy to fit. The quality of the hatch is excellent. The ordering process is relatively easy & delivery for a made to measure is pretty prompt. All in all I would thoroughly recommend Jupiterblue.

Very efficient service and very good product. Due to design of product, even though it should be a 2 person fitting, I was able to fit myself which was another plus. Fitted extremely well, far superior to original hatch from original build.

Easy to fill in web site and quick response confirmation order arrive before date quoted, well packed with instructions insulation and screws. Fitted straight into existing space with now modifications. Looks great wife pleased.No dangling bits of insulation now when opening loft.

I made my loft hatch hole bigger 12 years ago so I good put a loft ladder in. I made a DIY loft hatch cover which was OK but not airtight/insulated. Roll on the years and I had the ceiling skimmed to improve the look and then my DIY loft hatch looked rubbish. Ehmm? how to get a loft hatch cover to fit my odd sized hole? Eureka found this one made to measure. Bit of a juggle getting the first screws in place to secure it but after that it was very easy and it looks and works beautifully. That's it ceiling skimmed, loft hatch secured and all looks fab. Back to the kitchen floor now.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. You can't disconnect the door from the frame when installing, but no biggie, just requires an extra person to hold the door while you clamp the frame to the hatch opening Very happy with the finished look. Also with Jupiter Blue themselves NB - do the measurements exactly as requested, ie, deduct 5mm. My hatch opening isn't 100% square so this was necessary
