The "SP2" is a budget steel push-up 60-minute fire rated loft access hatch with a smooth simplistic design.
The loft access trap is finished with a powder coat onto zintec steel for a smooth white maintenance free surface. The loft hatch requires no painting and the frame fits flush to the ceiling.
Once the loft door is open, it has a very large clear opening of 712mm x 520mm to assist with storing bulky items, such as suitcases into the loft space.
The loft hatch lid is insulated with a substantial 100mm of fire resistant mineral slab to comply with the current building regulations of 0.35 "U" value.
The SP2 loft hatch is draught sealed between the frame and lid to virtually eliminate warm air leakage. It also reduces cold air and vapour leaking in from the loft.
The white colour of the loft hatch is RAL No. 9010 with 20% gloss.
The ceiling cut out (trim) size for the loft hatch is 755mm x 555mm.

Strictly compliant to the following regulations:
1 hour fire test to UKAS standards.
Exceeds Part "L" of the thermal building regulations to 0.35 "U" value.
NHBC compliant for attic doors, including 520mm clear opening in any direction.
The loft hatch is UKAS air infiltration tested without the need for extra sealant to the external frame and ceiling.
In addition:
The ceiling hatch insulation is CFC & HCFC free, ODP (ozone depletion) zero and compliant to Eco Homes standards of a GWP (global warming potential) rating of zero.
The SP2 loft access trap box packaging is made from 100% recycled cardboard and 100% recyclable.
Please note the SP2 cannot be used with our loft ladders.

I've bought a few of these over the years in various developments - honestly I was really impressed with it. They are normally pretty poorly fitting with gaps, however this is tight and the insulation is good and snug. Will definitely buy more in the future.

Similar to others purchased to replace plastic hatch. Expensive, but appears well-made, good hinge. Looks good when fitted. Would certainly recommend the product.

I was looking to replace a couple of tired old plastic loft hatches and having had good service from Jupiter Blue on a couple of occasions I decided to use them again. The loft hatch is of a metal construction and powder coated so should retain its smart appearance for a few years to come. I found it easy to install although I had to go buy some fireboard plasterbaord to comply with the fire regs, easy enough to cut to size and fit to the existing opening. I think the hatches were reasonable value for money, well made, complete with a good layer of insulation and Next Day delivery included in the price. Overall I would definitely recommend Jupiter Blue and the product.
