Loft Hatches
Loft hatches give safe access to loft spaces and roof voids through a ceiling opening, while helping maintain the insulation and airtightness of the home. Jupiter Blue supplies one of the UK's widest ranges — insulated and air-tested models, fire-rated hatches, and made-to-measure sizes for unusual openings.
Many are designed to fit standard ceiling joist spacings, so they install quickly on both renovation and new-build work.

The hinged loft hatch, and why the design works
Most of our standard hatches use a hinged door — attached to the frame along the short side — that simply drops down when you open it. It's a design with three practical advantages: you can open it from the floor with a pole (no climbing on a chair or steps); the door swings clear and stays out of the way while you get into the loft; and, because the hinge acts as a pivot, the closed and locked door presses firmly against the foam seal to keep draughts out. They come in a smooth white finish that needs no painting or decorating.
Insulation and Part L
Every Jupiter Blue loft hatch is insulated, with foam seals between the frame and door to cut draughts. How much insulation varies by model — our budget hatches have 35mm, and the exact thermal performance (U-value) is listed on each product, where a lower U-value means the hatch holds heat in better. If you need to meet or exceed Part L of the Building Regulations, we have a range of push-up and hinged hatches built to do exactly that. The right level depends on your ceiling depth and thermal requirements — get in touch if you'd like a hand.
Sizes and measuring
Standard-range hatches come in common sizes to suit 600mm joist centres, with typical UK openings around 560mm wide × 720–760mm. To choose: work out your structural opening size, check the hatch is specified to fit it, and allow enough clearance for the drop-down door. If your opening is a different size, our made-to-measure hatches are built to your exact dimensions.
